Mahwah Musicians Featured on New NOW 45 CD

Two of the members of the band 'Born Cages' are recent Mahwah High School graduates

Two Mahwah graduates are part of a band that fans of the NYC Indie Rock scene say are about to hit it big. Born Cages – which features township residents and recent Mahwah High School grads Vlad Holiday on guitar and lead vocals and Amanda Carl on keyboards and vocals – has a song on the new Now 45 CD. Now, that’s what I call a big break.

The Now discs are known for compiling the latest tracks in hit music together in one place. Born Cages is on the album’s track list, along with recent releases from One Direction, Flo Rida and Maroon 5.

The four-person band describes its sounds as “blending the past and future to make the present.” According to the group’s website, fans of its Now 45 song, “Don’t Look Back,” are in luck – Born Cages’ debut album is expected to drop in the Summer of 2013.

At a recent board of education meeting, Board President Tricia Shada urged residents to pick up Now 45 to support the township residents.

“They are two great musicians and recent grads,” she said of Holiday and Carl.
