What to Watch: Local Musicians on SNL

The Lumineers will be the musical guest on this weekend's 2013 premiere of Saturday Night Live

DVRs around Bergen County will be set this weekend to see local musicians who have made a big splash on the national music scene on TV.

Grammy-nominated folk-rock band The Lumineers, which has its roots in Ramsey, will be performing on a big stage this weekend.

The trio, whose hit single “Ho Hey” has sold millions of copies, will be on Saturday Night Live this weekend.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, actress Jennifer Lawrence is scheduled to host the show Saturday night. The Hunger Games actress made headlines Sunday for not only winning a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, but also for making a joke about Meryl Streep while accepting her award.

Saturday Night Live first posted a picture to Twitter promoting the actress’s and band’s Jan. 19 appearance on the show in December. The episode will be the show’s first new one of the year.

No word yet from SNL on what the band's set list will include Saturday night, or if the band will perform its new single "Stubborn Love."

Two of the three Lumineers members, lead vocalist Wesley Schultz and drummer Jeremiah Fraites, both grew up in Ramsey and graduated from Ramsey High School. The band has since relocated to Denver.
