Mahwah-Based Grocery Company Celebrates 60 Years in Business

Inserra Supermarkets owns 22 ShopRite locations in and around Bergen County.

A Mahwah-based company is celebrating 60 years in business.

Inserra Supermarkets, which owns and operates 22 ShopRite locations throughout NY and NJ, celebrated its anniversary recently by honoring longtime employees with an appreciation ceremony, the company said in a release last week.

The 179 employees recognized have each worked for Inserra for between five and 50 years.

“Combined, our honored associates have logged 2,870 years of distinguished service on behalf of our customers and the community at large.” Lawrence Inserra, Jr., President and CEO, said in the release.

“Their role, from the stock rooms and the registers to working the floor, is invaluable to fulfilling our mission. We appreciate what they do each and every day and the lengths they go to in order to serve others and work as a team. These outstanding men and women have been – and continue to be – the foundation for our success.”

Inserra, which is headquartered in Mahwah, was founded in 1954, and remains a family-owned chain. The company has over 4,000 employees and stores in Bayonne, Columbia Park, Emerson, Fair Lawn, Hackensack, Hillsdale, Hoboken, Jersey City, Lodi, Lyndhurst, New Milford, Northvale, Palisades Park, Passaic, Ramsey, Wayne and West Milford in New Jersey and in Rockland County, N.Y., in Garnerville, New City, Stony Point, Tallman and West Nyack.
