New BBQ Joint Plans To Open In July

Owner of Nonna's Pizza plans new business venture

If you’ve passed by the Gateway Center on Franklin Turnpike lately, you may have noticed new signage that sparked your interest.

“Coming Soon: Shake and Sizzle.” What does that mean?

According to Pete B., the owner and operator of , his new venture, Shake and Sizzle, will offer BBQ dishes with unique menu options.

“We are going to have everything from burgers and ribs to Portuguese Chicken,” he said.

Pete says he plans on opening the new place – located just a few shops down from his pizzeria restaurant – sometime in July.

“It is painted, but we are still waiting on some things, like furniture, until it is totally finished,” he said.

The owner also says he is working out some grand opening perks for Mahwah residents.

my first time there i was debating on what to choose from, since there is such a large menu. The boy behind the counter was very helpful in talking to me about my likes and dislikes and helped me decide on the buffalo chicken sandwhich. this turned out to be the best thing i've ever eaten. not to mention the fries are out of this world. -all at an awesome price- the service and manager were all very kind and welcoming, i am most defiantly going to tell my friends and family about this place. i love it!

I had a great lunch at Shake and Sizzle today. Sizzle chicken and a shake...delicious! My food came out quickly and everything couldn't have been better. They even have new chairs in the dinning room which were very comfortable. The place had a nice crowd during lunch and I really enjoyed the whole experience. I will 100% be back.

So my parents were in town for the weekend to visit me at college, and I told them about this place and how amazing it was. I told them they HAD to eat there. They immediately loved the color scheme. I told them, "Try the food, it's even better!" They ordered one of the Chicken and Ribs Combos; I switched it up this time and got the Swiss Chicken Sandwich. Again, the man behind the counter, taking my order, was very helpful and informative, answering every question my parents had about the food. My mother is a celiac, which means she cant eat wheat, and the man taking our order helped her craft her meal to her liking. The food came out lightening fast (just like last time). Needless to say the food was amazing, as usual.

I went with my boyfriend for dinner- it was GREAT! I had a grilled chicken sandwich and he had a burger, we both loved our food, and the fries were great. The atmosphere was so cute/perfect for the type of place. Overall we definetly recommend it!
