Pet Biz Moves from Suffern to Mahwah

Ruff Cuts Grooming opened this week on Ramapo Valley Road.

A longtime New York dog groomer has moved to Mahwah.

Ruff Cuts Pet Grooming officially moved into its new home at 74 Ramapo Valley Road on Tuesday. For the past 13 years, the business has been located on South Street in Suffern.

“We had to leave our old location because of a landlord situation, so we wanted to find a new home as close as possible,” Ruff Cuts owner Trish Sanford told Patch of why the store moved.

“When we found this place, we fell in love with it.”

Though she’s only been open in the township for a few days, Sanford said the community has already given her a warm welcome.

“The town was great to work with. They are really good to businesses. We were able to get approved quickly, and do the entire move within three weeks,” she said.

“And the neighbors have been so nice and welcoming. It’s such a nice community, it’s been wonderful.”

Sanford said Ruff Cuts will continue to offer what it did in Suffern, including grooming for all dogs and cats, specializing in puppies and aging dogs, and discounts to volunteer firefighters, EMS workers, police officers, and veterans.

“We want to thank people who serve and create a connection with the community,” Sanford said.

“And, we treat all of our dogs as if they were our own. I think that’s why we’ve been so lucky all of these years.”
