Courage Does Not Always Roar

When to listen to the quiet voice in your head

"Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow."

We all try our best to stay focused and keep our motivation levels high,  some days it's easy. But, I think for most of us, it's tough to always be motivated.  I can only speak from a woman's point of view, but I think we all have a tendency to beat ourselves up personally, leaving us to spiral downward. Lets face it, life gets in the way. We are over worked, over tired, and stressed. It's easy to beat yourself up when you cannot give it your all when you are out there trying to accomplish a good workout.

Take today. I have been on a 10 day hiatus from a rolled ankle, doing my best to listen to my body. Rest = faster recovery!

So heading out I was a little apprehensive but started slow. "This is great," I thought, "no pain, but who put this piano on my back?"

I pushed forward a bit but just didn't seem to have the stamina today. I've learned that it's ok to back off on these days. It's ok to listen to that voice in your head once and a while. But that is not permission to quit or give up. It's permission to listen to that voice in your head saying, "I will try again tomorrow."

As much as we push forward, work hard, and strive to meet our goals, we have to cut ourselves some slack sometimes. It's ok to back off when you feel like you have to back off, listen to your body.  It will make your next attempt  much more enjoyable and I can that say with certainty so yes I ran with a piano on my back today, but tomorrow I'm leaving it on the side of the road and powering through!

Courage is the ability to confront fear, pain, danger, uncertainty, or intimidation.
