Spring Is Already In The Air!

Don't let your body be unprepared for the (even) warmer weather

Is it really almost the end of February? Where has the winter gone? Wait, did we even have winter yet? The temperatures have been so mild it has made it perfect for outdoor activities.

Feeling these warm winter months should be getting you ready for the spring. It will be here before you know it. When spring hits officially in a few weeks, will you be ready? Have you been keeping up on your healthy eating and keeping on track with your workouts?

Take a look at your calendar. The calendar says spring begins March 20, and that will be here before you know it! Take a minute to write down some goals for yourself for the upcoming weeks. Get ready for spring before it hits - don't let that nice weather come and then panic about getting back in shape for the spring/summer season.

Cut yourself some slack and start now, if you haven’t already. The weather has been more than cooperative! Here is my suggestion for you today. I find for me the best way to move forward with my fitness achievements and keeping motivated is to set goals. They don't have to be giant goals. Set a bunch of small goals along with a long-term tougher goal. Maybe a mud run or train for a 5k or 10k. Perhaps this month you are going to work on better and more push-ups?

Make a list of all the things you like to do and some of the things you don't. It seems we steer away from the activities that challenge us. So, choose some of these to push your efforts to make you stronger. Whatever your goals are, write them down, put dates, and do your best to reach them. The nice thing about YOUR goal is, if you fall short that's ok, you can continue to reach for them because they are YOURS for the taking!

This spring I have given my kids each a little notebook. They all have their own goals for their spring activities. Before each game they write down what their "goal" is for that particular game; this gives them something to play hard for, it also will show teach them how to work toward their goals and dreams. I hope spring doesn’t sneak up on you...it's right around the corner so be ready. Don't let spring be sprung on you unprepared!
