Three area remembrance ceremonies; Upload photos and messages that represent what you are feeling Tuesday

Three remembrance ceremonies are giving Mahwah residents the opportunity to reflect on and remember 9/11 on Tuesday, which marks the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

The township will host a remembrance ceremony at its September 11 memorial tree (across from Winter’s Pond) starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday. According to coordinator Councilwoman Lisa DiGiulio, attendees can expect speeches from township officials and performances by singers.

The exempt firefighters association has also near the remembrance tree.

“I hope everyone will come out to honor those who lost their lives and those who helped save lives on September 11,” DiGiulio said.

At Tuesday, school groups have set up a memorial that will be on display in the Salameno Spiritual Center from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Students and visitors will be invited to view the display throughout the day, and will hold a 9/11 prayer service at 5 p.m.

The memorial service, honoring the victims, families and heroes of the 9/11 terrorist attacks will be held in the Freeholder Public Meeting Room on the fifth floor.

Throughout the day, Patch is asking users to upload photos, videos, messages, poems, and thoughts they feel help them remember September 11, 2001, and honor all of those affected by the terrorist attacks that day. Upload photos at the top of this article and comment with messages below.
