Register Seniors For Free Flu Vaccines

The Mahwah Department of Health flu shots require pre-registration

The Mahwah Board of Health has announced free flu vaccines for seniors in the township. Anyone 65 and older, or younger with a documented disability or chronic condition, is eligible for the shot. However, pre-registration is required.

Shots will be given out Friday, September 28 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the . Residents can reserve their spots by calling the Mahwah Health Department at 201-529-5757, Option 2.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that all people 6 months of age and older receive the flu vaccine. Vaccination is especially important for people at higher risk of getting sicker from the flu.  Young children, people 65 years and older, pregnant women, and people with certain health conditions such as heart, lung or kidney disease, or weakened immune system are at high risk of flu complications.

The Mahwah Board of Health in conjunction with the Health Awareness Regional Program (HARP) of Hackensack University Medical Center is offering seasonal flu vaccine for Mahwah Seniors on Friday, September 28th from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Mahwah Senior Center located at 475 Corporate Drive, Mahwah, N.J. 07430.

Vaccinations will be given to residents 65 years of age or over, and to residents under 65 with documented chronic medical conditions.   Pre-registration is required. Please have your Medicare Card with Medicare Part B number ready when you call to register. Those with chronic medical conditions will need to supply a letter or prescription from their health care provider prior to the clinic date. Medicare HMO participants will not be accepted at the flu program.
