Snow Likely Less than Originally Predicted

But, cold temps continue for a few more days

A snow event Friday night likely will not result in as much snow as was predicted earlier this week.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow Friday night is expected to accumulate only about half an inch in Mahwah. However, meteorologists are warning that whatever snow does fall may stick to the ground quickly because of the low temperatures.

The NWS predicts frigid temperatures will continue for at least a few more days, with wind chill values making it feel like -3 degrees Friday. Here is the NWS forecast in Mahwah:

Friday Increasing clouds, with a high near 26. Wind chill values as low as -3. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.
Friday Night Light snow likely, mainly before 11pm. Cloudy, with a low around 11. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Saturday Partly sunny, with a high near 28. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon.
Saturday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 13. Northwest wind around 8 mph.
Sunday Sunny, with a high near 30. Northwest wind 7 to 13 mph.
Sunday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 15.
Monday A chance of snow after 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Monday Night A chance of rain, snow, and freezing rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Tuesday Mostly cloudy, with a high near 47.
Tuesday Night A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
