Christie for President? NJ Guv Bests GOP Rivals, Hillary Clinton in AOL Poll

While it’s nearly 3 years until America elects its next president—1,090 days, to be exact—the landslide re-election of Gov. Chris Christie earlier this month has fueled ubiquitous speculation about the upcoming horse-race for the White House.

A week of unscientific polling on the AOL.com homepage suggests that Christie leads the pack of potential early 2016 candidates. 

AOL users "and visitors to AOL.com represent a broad swath of the potential electorate and these poll results offer interesting, if imperfect, insight into how some of the following voting scenarios might play out in 2016.”

According to AOL's results, Christie tops all candidates by double digits:

  • 20 percent over Marco Rubio
  • 22 percent over Jeb Bush
  • 32 percent over Rand Paul
  • 38 percent over Ted Cruz
  • 10 percent over Hillary Clinton
