2nd Annual Joyce Kilmer Day Celebration

PUBLIC INVITED TO HONOR POET PATRIOT WHO WROTE "TREES" IN HIS MAHWAH HOME 101 YEARS AGO

In a pre-Super Bowl celebration, the 2nd Annual Joyce Kilmer Day observance features details of the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Bench, historical displays, take-home brochures about the writing of "Trees,," free drawings for Joyce Kilmer T-shirts, mugs and a Joyce Kilmer photo signed by '86 Giants Super Bowl  star George Martin and complimentary refreshments.

The event is hosted by the Joyce Kilmer Society of Mahwah and  takes place at midday, long before the 6:30 pm Super Bowl kickoff at MetLife Stadium.

"Joyce Kilmer Day" was designated by proclamation last year by Mayor Bill Laforet, flanked by Councilmen John Spiech and John Roth, to commemorate the writing of "Trees" by Kilmer in his house at the southwest corner of Airmount and Armour Roads on February 2nd, 1913.
