Gallery Talk About the Neighborhood of Stag Hill

On Sunday, April 13, at 3:00 p.m., at the Mahwah Museum, 201 Franklin Turnpike, Tom Dunn, Museum Trustee and Chair of Archives, will lead a gallery talk about the history of Stag Hill and the Green Mountain Valley. Mr. Dunn has extensively researched land records of this area, and will talk about the Mountain School, community leadership, the Geiger Road controversy and the Ramapough Lenape nation. He will be joined by Wallace Dennison, former administrator of the Ramapough nation. Discussion and questions are welcome. Seating is limited; reservations are suggested. On Saturday, April 26, from 11-4 p.m., the fourth annual Northwest Bergen County History Day will celebrate 350 Years of Innovation, Liberty and Diversity on the 350th anniversary of the founding of New Jersey. Eight other museums and historic houses will participate in the celebration. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door, and can be purchased at the Museum. On June 14, the Mahwah Museum will celebrate Les Paul’s birthday at the 3rd annual Les Paul Gala, to be held at the Ramapo College Trustees Pavilion. Autographed guitars and other items will be up for auction, and several special guitars will be raffled, including one autographed by Paul McCartney. The gala is open to the public and includes food, deserts and wine, and live entertainment by Bucky Pizzarelli, Lou Pallo and other talented musicians. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at www.mahwahmuseum.org or at the Mahwah Museum during opening hours.
 
The Mahwah Museum is open on Wednesdays and weekends from 1-4 p.m. and is featuring the exhibit “Neighborhoods of Mahwah: 1913-2013” and “Les Paul in Mahwah.” The Donald Cooper Model Railroad is open weekends from 1-4 p.m. Admission to the Museum is $5 for non-members, and free to members and children.
