Ramapo College Music Club 2nd Annual Indie Concert/Barbeque

Ramapo Students to Produce Large Scale
Indie Concert and Barbeque

Ramapo College
of New Jersey’s Music Club will be hosting their 2nd annual Indie
Concert and Barbeque a student run event, featuring local and student bands at
the schools Laurel Courts on Saturday April 26, 2014 from 12pm to 8pm. The all
day festival will feature acts from New Jersey and New York, with Indie Rock
sound. All are invited to join students in a day of incredible music, barbeque,
and fun in the sun.

Bands playing
will include, Ramapo’s own Bloodwashed Band a Folk/Pop cover band featuring
eight student musicians. Fiscal Cliff, a young Hoboken based Indie Pop group
with a recent E.P release features funky bass lines, idiosyncratic
"guitarmonies" with synergy that brings audiences to standstill sways
or euphoric chaos, which coincide with the heavy drum grooves and orchestrated
melodies. Fight For Your Friends, a recent addition to Pandora Radio, is a
one-man acoustic act, known for his sometimes-rowdy performances.
Singer/Songwriter Amanda Fama will grace the stage for the second year in a row
with an acoustic pop performance. Acoustic Folk/Indie New York based band The
Afternoon Edition will feature songs from their debut E.P “No One Will Know”.
The Freeway sounds are a duo that aims to bring their Indie Pop style out into
the world, to inspire future generations. Don Ryan will also make his second
appearance at this festival leading his gypsy folk band to create powerfully
moving music. The
Brooklyn pop-trio Your Sister’s Canary will bring with them a case of the blues
and a knack for three-part harmony. Boxed Wine is an indie pop party band from
New Jersey, bringing back their incredible energy and excitement for the second
year in a row. Story-telling musician Cranston Dean makes Ramapo another stop
as he tours the Northeast playing bigger cities and smaller towns while
promoting his latest release “Tried & True”. We’re Ghosts Now, a band that
draws their sound from The Black keys while adding a hint of punk into the
equation, are looking to make the audience dance.

The
members of the Tau Delta Phi fraternity Ramapo chapter will be grilling up some
delicious food beginning at 12 pm. Event attendees were asked in advanced to
vote on their favorite flavors of Rita’s Italian Ice, which club members will
be distributing around 3 p.m. Other activities will include a popcorn machine,
t-shirt giveaways, tye-dye and plenty of games provided.

The
Ramapo Music Club has been an active presence of the Ramapo campus over the
past few years, hosting open mic nights in Linden Hall every other Thursday, as
well as a slew of influential speakers for programs on how to make it in the
music industry. Last semester, the club successfully a hosted both a Pop Punk
and a Hardcore show, and are excited to host their final event of the year in
the form of an outdoor music festival.  Last
years event was a great success, and it is expected that this year will be even
better.

This show will
take place on Saturday April 26th from 12pm to 8pm at the Laurel
Courts of Ramapo College. Produced by students, for students, Ramapo Music
Club’s Indie Concert & Barbeque is bound to appeal to all types of
