Wild & Scenic Film Festival -- Earth Day Celebration -- Lafayette Theater in Suffern
In celebration of Earth Day 2014 on Tuesday, April 22, local organizations that encourage appreciation and protection of the environment will come together with area residents to welcome The Wild & Scenic Film Festival tour to the Lafayette Theater. The 3 hour event will feature award-winning short films and mini documentaries that inspire and raise awareness. Films that explore spectacular natural landscapes, wildlife conservation efforts, protection of land and water resources, outdoor adventure, and tell stories of people who are making a difference. visit www.suffernfilmfest.com for details about the festival and the films.
The event brings together several Hudson Valley area partner organizations that promote conservation of the environment and encourage activism: ROSA (Ramapo Organized for Sustainability and a Safe Aquifer), United Monroe, Rockland Water Coalition, New York New Jersey Trail Conference, Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Keep Rockland Beautiful, Eastern Light Project, Hungry Hollow Coop, and ACA Camp at Lake Sebago. Rivertown Film, Rockland’s film society, devoted to celebrating, exploring and promoting the art of the motion picture through film screenings and educational programs, is participating as well. Proceeds from this benefit event will go to support the organizing organizations, all of whom are fighting to protect the local Hudson Valley environment. The evening's program will include onsite raffles, auction, a demonstration and information about the participating organizations and their local efforts.
