5 Studios Hosting Dance Benefit in Mahwah This Weekend

Event will raise money for The Valerie Fund.

Infinite Motion Performing Arts Academy will be hosting GIVE: A Collaborative Benefit Performance of song and dance this Sunday at 4 p.m. at Mahwah High School to raise money for the Valerie Fund, the dance school announced in a release this week. Infinite Motion dancers will take the stage with dancers from other local schools, including Planet Dance of West Milford, Dance Designs of Fair Lawn, Center Stage Dance Studio of Paramus, and From the Top Music Studio of Midland Park.

Doors to the event open at 3:30 p.m., and locals are invited to see the show for a $15 donation to the fund.

Each year, the studio puts on a charity performance to benefit a different organization. This year, instructors at the school chose to give back to The Valerie Fund, a not-for-profit organization established in 1976 in memory of nine-year-old Valerie Goldstein by her parents, whose mission is to provide support for the comprehensive health care of children with cancer and blood disorders.

"To be able to share the stage with some wonderful schools and share our passion for performance is special enough, but to do that and support the Valerie Fund who has done (and continues to do) amazing things in the effort to conquer cancer is truly an amazing feeling and we are blessed to have this opportunity," IMPAA’s Artistic Director Rosanne Renda said in the release about the event.

In addition to volunteers putting together the benefit, sponsors from around the area donated to the cause: Connect One Bank will be sponsoring the theatre rental and Hallak Cleaners of Hackensack has donated all of the refreshments for the intermission, with all proceeds to benefit the Valerie Fund. Colony Florist of Franklin Lakes will be donating plants to decorate the stage for the event. AlphaGraphics of Mahwah will be printing the programs for the event as a donation.
