A new memorial and a town-wide “thank you” to veterans headlined Mahwah’s annual Veterans Day ceremony Monday morning.

More than 100 residents and local students attended the ceremony, which included addresses by local politicians, students from Mahwah High School and St. Paul’s, and members of Mahwah’s VFW and American Legion posts, as well as musical performances by local students, and the dedication of the new “Circle of Freedom” memorial.

Susan Stedtler, a resident who chaired the Circle of Freedom Committee, called the memorial a, “lasting tribute to all veterans, past, present, and future.”

The memorial is made up of 12 small, etched stones in a circle at Veterans Park. Each stone depicts an aspect of a different war.
