LED or Not LED?

Beautiful landscape lighting designs now include more and more LED lighting and it makes a big difference in several ways.

LED or not LED? That is the question. This season, the answer has been consistently yes, LED.

LED is the anacronym for light emitting diode. The
advantages of LED lights are that they use about a fifth of the energy of
incandescent bulbs. They also have about 5 times the life expectance of
incandescent bulbs.

The disadvantages of LED lights are cost, color and beam
spread. This season as more and more landscape lighting designers use LEDs, the
price has slowly come down.

available allow the light to be much warmer, less sterile and the beam spread
can be much wider which makes the LED light less intense.

Acceptable LED lights are now available for every major
lighting fixture type. The price will continually come down and optics will
continue to improve. In a few seasons the question will be - what came before
