'Perfect Peach Pie Contest' to Debut at Local Farmers' Market

The Council of Peaches chose the RFM to host the event.

The following information was submitted to Patch by the Ramsey Farmers' Market: 

Ramsey Farmers’ Market will be host site for New Jersey Council of Peaches first “Perfect Peach Pie Contest” this Sunday, August 11.

Break out those pie pans and join us at the Ramsey Farmers’ Market Peach Festival on August 11 for the first “Perfect Peach Pie Contest, sponsored by the New Jersey Council of Peaches.  The Ramsey Farmers’ Market was chosen as one of only two northern New Jersey markets (Jersey City Heights the other) for this event.

The winner will go on to submit their pie for a chance for a grand prize choice of overnights for two people with dinner at their choice of Atlantic City or Cape May. Pastry chef, Michael Volpe, chef/owner of Ramsey’s new authentic Italian café and bakery,  L’Arte della Pasticceria will be the judge.

The Ramsey Farmers’ Market features a bounty of local produce and products from over 35 vendors and includes organic and traditional fruits and vegetables, artisan breads and cheeses, gluten free baked goods, granola and prepared foods, local honey and organic maple syrup, homemade jams, local wine, free trade coffee and teas, many varieties of hummus, free range eggs, and so much more. The day will include great music, free children’s crafts, chef demos, and a surprise Featured Vendor.

The Ramsey Farmers’ Market is open every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ramsey Main St train station parking lot through November 24. The market is free and has more than ample free parking. Call 201-675-6866 for more information.
