Christie Orders Flags at Half-Staff to Honor Staff Sgt. McGill

NJ Transit closes parking at the Ramsey Train Station Friday for McGill's funeral.

Governor Chris Christie has signed an executive order that on Friday, Oct. 4, all State buildings flags shall be flown at half-staff in recognition of the service and sacrifice of Marine Staff Sgt. Timothy McGill who was killed in eastern Afghanistan in an apparent attack by a member of the Afghan forces. McGill, also a Ramsey volunteer firefighter, will receive a military funeral on Friday Oct. 4 in Ramsey. 

Christie's order recognizes McGill as "a brave and loyal American hero."

The military funeral will take place at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church beginning with eulogies at 10 a.m. and followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. The internment will be at Mary Rest Cemetery in Mahwah.

NJ Transit has also issued a notice that parking at the Ramsey train station will be closed Friday, Oct 4th for McGill's military funeral. Customers may use the parking deck at Ramsey Route 17 station.
