Letter To The Editor: Voting For Bill Laforet

Election is November 8

My fellow Mahwah residents:

I hope that you will take just a few moments to consider this letter. My name is Daniel Weixeldorfer and I write to urge you to support BILL LAFORET FOR MAYOR on November 8th.

Mahwah needs BILL LAFORET as he is the only candidate for mayor committed to the values of service above self. If your values find it unacceptable for our other mayoral candidates to trade one of your weekly trash collections(which saved Mahwah taxpayers $60,000) for their own personal medical benefits(which costs Mahwah taxpayer $60,000) then BILL LAFORET is your only choice for mayor. If your values are equally offended by our other candidates’ refusal to adhere to the well advertised state pension and benefits reforms then BILL LAFORET is your only choice for mayor.

Can your finances tolerate another 26% increase in taxes and another 50% increase in water rates?  If not, it is time for a change. The leadership of our other mayoral candidates on the proposed mall development has already led us into court and has caused tension among the citizenry.  The business approach of BILL LAFORET will ensure that the will of the people is reflected on this important issue.

Mahwah’s challenges are no different than those of our country, State and other local governments. We are living in difficult and financially challenging times. Our politicians have failed us. Over the next week you will receive a barrage of smears, endorsements from political cronies and claims of experience typical of desperate politicians. Tell these politicians that we have had enough of their “experience” and vote them out!! It is time for a seasoned business person with a proven commitment to service to Mahwah and rejection of the politics of personal gain.

These are my values, those of BILL LAFORET and hopefully yours. These are the values that we must demand from all of our public servants. On November 8th I urge you to show the politicians that we have had enough and vote for the values of service above self exemplified by our dedicated volunteers and BILL LAFORET.

VOTE COLUMN 2 ON NOVEMBER 8TH. VOTE BILL LAFORET for MAYOR.

Sincerely,

Daniel J. Weixeldorfer

Mahwah Resident/Business Owner

Ramapo rocks......the mayor can't veto everything.....just like the president can't do things without congress and senate.
Daniel Weixeldorfer November 05, 2011 at 10:59 PM

Just The Truth Billy November 06, 2011 at 04:54 AM
The 1st thing you can do is to tell the truth to the people. I just received an e-mail stating that Mr. Laforet joined the Republican Club in May of 2011. He did not tell them though that he was a registered Democrat and has been one since 1992 and voted in June 2011 primary not less than a month after him joining the Republican Club. Now I ask you why would a man who is running for Mayor of Mahwah tell everyone he is a Republican when he really is a Democrat. Just The truth Billy just the truth. The truth will set you free. Nothing wrong with being a Democrat unless you are telling everyone that your a Republican. Wonder how the Democrats in this town will feel about this. Oh that is right you have been telling them too that your a Democrat. Next thing he will tell you is that he is qualified to lead this town. Why Billy what are your new ideas?

Hey Dan,what happened to your list of 10 "horrible rumors",i guess one or two might have some merit.
robert November 06, 2011 at 11:49 AM
come on Dan not keeping up with Federal Politics you of all people Bobalu
Daniel Weixeldorfer November 06, 2011 at 12:50 PM
It was my TOP TEN LIST of funny rumors....Robert My guess is that the DaPuzzo groupies flaged it because I probably did hit one of their Sunday before the election smears that they will try and use (kind of funny if I did pick the one you group is going to use since mine were all funny ones)....Or that I told the fake name of the group they will email from " CONCERNED CITIZENS OF MAHWAH" Robert I give Allan Kidd a lot of credit for writing on Patch under his own name like he did yesterday to say he was supporting John DaPuzzo and why. He didn't hide behind a fake name like you..We know who you really are though....Its funny how town people talk ... Sad "LITTLE" man you are. Oh and on a side note if you think that listing my companies I own, owned or am a partner in scares or upsets me in some way ...... it really doesn't it does prove to me you either have a crush on me or are a stalker....word around town is it might be the first one. But if your going to sit on your PC and google me at least type out the complete spelling fo the names of the companies I own.... It's Bobalu llc and Daniel Weixeldorfer DBA/ Living The Dream Stable ... You should try using Kingofthedomain.com llc in your next comment Robert or KrisDan contractors or JDM Properties llc or Healthcore Media llc .... See Robert saved you a few minutes looking me up and writing them down....There are more though so if you don't like the Jets or Giants and are bored today have fun googling me.

Dan- A lot of people are surprised by my support of John DaPuzzo, for Mayor, as John and I disagreed a whole lot when we served on the Council together. However, John DaPuzzo is the only person running for Mayor who is qualified for the job. It's that simple.
robert November 07, 2011 at 11:33 AM
David May, the only thing wrong with the youtube post is that the camera only zoomed in on the two mayoral candidates, should have been a little wider shot to get all three,oh wait a minute there were only two mayoral candidates present at the gathering.
Kristi Droppers November 07, 2011 at 12:25 PM
I received all the collateral the John DaPuzzo and his team put in all our front doors yesterday. I saw the same paid-for-by-the-developer postcard in this packet which, says "vote for the mall at crosswords" that was sent to most of us I assume last. week. And, I thought why is John Dapuzzo so open about his support for the mall when he knows that so many people were upset with his handling of the mall? And, then I realized that he knows he can't win against Bill so he wants Lisa to win with her staunch anti-mall positioning. Because he will get Lisa's seat on the council then and he will have what he figures is his majority to push through whatever he wants -- including the mall. I of course don't know this -- but that feels really right to me. The irony might be -- if Lisa wins the mayoral race her supporters lose big time. Does it bother anyone else that John DaPazzo is pushing his relationship with the Republicans. Why do the Republicans want John to win? What's in it for them? I would love to hear what others think on this. Please only respond if you are willing to use your full name though. I can't stand this hiding behind fake names. Kristi Droppers
Daniel Weixeldorfer November 07, 2011 at 01:29 PM
Kristi, Susan and Mr C I couldn't agree with you more. This election is more about removing Mr DaPuzzo from any postion of power in Mahwah then just voting for a Mayor without thinking what the coucil will look like after this election.

First, a reminder that we do not delete comments, unless they are blatantly in violation of our terms of service (which do ask that you use your real name). The comments section was designed to be self-policing, where the community would decide which comments were inappropriate. I can tell you that we continue to have a lot of discussion about improving this aspect of our sites.
Daniel Weixeldorfer November 07, 2011 at 06:11 PM
The DaPuzzo family has a nice gig both part time workers and we the taxpayers pay for their families healthcare. But he saves the fountain $$$ on benefits. So I guess managing the Fountain Spa full time and their 300 employees and 15 million budget can't handle the burden of his healthcare but Mahwah can.
Jackie Bowns November 07, 2011 at 06:27 PM
Let's get the both dapuzzos off our health care rolls. That alone will save the taxpayers a lot.
Thomas Tally November 08, 2011 at 04:56 PM
After reading these posts, I've come to the conclusion that you all have WAY too much time on your hands. I just thought I'd take a look at the Patch since my neighbor said it was a nice site with good local information. I've only been in Mahwah for 15 years, but I've never even considered the Mayoral position to be of any importance. I work in NYC, I love Mahwah, but voting for the town Mayor is VERY low on my to do list. And to be honest, I don't think anything has really changed all that much since Dwork was in office. Fardale seems to be the same! I mean come on, Mayor of Mahwah, LOL? Is it really worth all of this mudslinging? I make a good living, I work hard day in and day out and while I applaud those who give their time for civic duties, is all of this garbage really worth it?
Andy Schmidt November 08, 2011 at 05:14 PM
Thomas, that a healthy perspective. While there is nothing wrong with touting the qualities of whichever friend/candidate you choose to support, it's hard to watch how desperate some folks appear to be for these positions that they feel justified in anonymously belitteling or slandering their opponent(s) for months at time. Knowing all the 3 mayoral candidates, I am quite comfortable that each has honest intentions of doing "right" by the town - they just might go about it in different ways, and weigh differently the sometimes conflicting dual responsibilities of acting in the best interest of the town vs. representing the will of its residents.
Jackie Bowns November 08, 2011 at 09:29 PM
Well, another low on the dapuzzo side. Beside lying about one of candidates, seriously, they have the Nerve to post a "vote for the mall, lower taxes" outside one of the polling places....strictly forbidden!
Tom Troncone (Editor) November 08, 2011 at 09:31 PM
Did you take a picture of the sign Jackie?
Jackie Bowns November 08, 2011 at 09:43 PM
We have it...one of the voters pointed it out...any other questions, sir?
Bob Lockwood November 08, 2011 at 10:08 PM
There is an Anti-Mall campaign poster within 47 feet of of the entrance to District #1 polling location - not sure if it's of any real consequence. It's been there all day. Campaingn signs are supposed to be no closer than 100 feet from the polling location. Is it suppose to be 100 feet from the parking entrance? or 100 feet from the building? or 100 feet from the door? I have a couple of pictures if you'd like them. I can e-mail them or upload them. Just let me know.
Tom Troncone (Editor) November 08, 2011 at 10:17 PM
Actually, yes, can you upload it here?: http://patch.com/A-n7ct
Tom Troncone (Editor) November 08, 2011 at 10:17 PM
You can upload them here Bob, thanks: http://patch.com/A-n7ct
Bob Lockwood November 08, 2011 at 10:35 PM
They have been uploaded.
Mahwah Resident November 08, 2011 at 11:59 PM
Bob, I just saw a vote for the mall, lower taxes sign from the soon to be ex-Dapuzzo team within 20 feet of one of the polling entrances. Boy, I guess Dapuzzo is SO DESBERATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO DAPUZZO AND NO MALL IN MAHWAH!!!!
Bob Lockwood November 09, 2011 at 12:26 AM
