Muppets Coming To Mahwah Big Screen

Commodore Perry Field will be transformed into an outdoor theater next week

Next Tuesday, Mahwah’s will be turned into a family-friendly outdoor movie theater. The Recreation department will be putting on a free movie night, showing The Muppets on the big screen.

This is the third year the township has opted to bring in a big, blow-up, drive-in style screen. The 25-foot screen will be set up outside. According to Rec Committee Director Harry Williams, the past movie nights have been “really popular.”

Residents are invited to come to Commodore Perry starting at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, bringing their own chairs, blankets and refreshments. The Field of Creams snack stand will also be open for purchasable refreshments.

“It’s a family fun night, so we always pick a movie we think everyone will like,” Williams said. “It is totally free, open to everyone, and it’s a bring your own fun event.”

The rain date for the event is Thursday, July 26. On either date, the Rec Committee is expecting lots of Mahwah parents and kids to come out for a night at the movies.

“We really like it to be something that people can come out to with their families and enjoy,” Williams said. “We are really looking forward to it.”
