Where To Grab Meals For Two Under $25

Mahwah Dining Scene sure to please

No need to cut coupons or search a daily deal site in order to eat affordably.  Looking for a place to grab a bite on date night or maybe a spot to have lunch with an old friend?  Two people can take an epicurean tour of the globe in Mahwah for $25. Here are just a few choices of places to dine. Tax and tip not included.

This popular Mexican/Southwest restaurant offers big portions of tasty, healthy food with notations on vegetarian and gluten-free entrees.

Order the Alfredo Garcia fajitas with your choice of chicken, steak, pork or tofu for $8.99. It comes with the traditional accompaniments of peppers, onions and cheese but you can also add any of the 25 fresh free ingredients to customize your meal.

The Chicken Rice Bowl for $7.49 includes seasoned rice, beans, grilled mushrooms and peppers and marinated chicken with a tasty chipotle ranch dressing.  For an extra $2.39, you get a 22 oz drink and a choice of a side including a cookie, guacamole or black beans.

Chips and salsa are free with your entrée. An extra bonus - kids eat free on Sunday.

Moes Southwest Grill, MacArthur Blvd & Ridge Rd., 529-2003

This gourmet Asian restaurant has an extensive menu including seafood, and vegetarian dishes, whether you are in the mood for traditional Chinese or the more adventurous Japanese cuisine. You and your dining companion are sure to find something to satisfy your appetite.

The General Tso’s Chicken on the dinner menu comes with a pork fried rice and an egg roll for $9.25. Mix and match  from  the sushi and sashimi menu.  Try two-piece tuna for $4.50 and two-piece Crab Stick for $4. Add Miso Soup for two at $1.50 each.

The warm atmosphere and friendly service have made this a perennial favorite since 1992. When the weather cooperates, enjoy al fresco dining in the courtyard. The specialty sandwiches come with a choice of French fries, cole slaw, side salad or cup of soup. 

Try a Honey Chipotle Pulled Pork Sandwich for $9.95 and the Ma Connelly’s Reuben features an open faced corned beef, pastrami, sauerkraut and Swiss. Share a dessert of Homemade Apple Crisp al la mode for $4.75.

This is more than just a pizza shop. Fresh ingredients and homemade entrees make this Italian restaurant Jerseylicious. The grandma’s pizza has even received mentions in Zagat’s Dining Guide.

The chicken parmigiana for $13.95 comes with a choice of pasta and homemade sauces including tomato or a chunky garlic marinara.  The Grilled Portobello Salad features arugula, endive and radicchio with roasted peppers in a balsamic dressing for $10.95.
