Mahwah Football Chalks Up Another Win

The Mahwah High School Football team beats Fort Lee 41 to 6. Their record now stands at 7 - 1.

The Mahwah TBirds are now 7-1 after their win over Fort Lee on Friday.

The first touchdown of the game came just a few minutes into the first quarter on a 20 yard pass from QB Zach Herrmann to Slot Back, Erik Wong. The PAT by Zack Freguletti was good to make the score Mahwah 7, Ft. Lee 0.

Mahwah scored again on a 4 yard run by Red Askew bringing the lead to 13. The PAT by Freguletti brought Mahwah up 14 - 0.

But Ft. Lee returned towards the end of the first quarter with a touchdown by Alex Levy on a pass from QB Mario Jackovino to make the score 14 to 6.They did not make the point after touchdown.

The second quarter, Mahwah defensive end Mike Hogan picked off a Ft. Lee pass and ran 59 yards to the end zone for his first touchdown of the season. Freguletti's kick was good. Mahwah's strong defense has scored two week's in a row.

In the second half, Zach Herrmann rushed for two touchdowns. The first on a two yard run, the second on a five yard run. Freguletti made one of the two PATS . Mahwah's lead was cemented at the end of the third quarter 34 to 6.

A late fourth quarter touchdown by QB Jason Stepp brings the score to 40 to 6. Freguletti's kick was good for the final score of Mahwah 41, Fort Lee 6.

Mahwah's record is now 7 and 1. They play Dumont at home this Friday at 7 pm. They also look forward to the playoffs starting on November 9.
