Fall Getaway - Eating & Antiquing Our Way Through Cape May

For our tenth anniversary my husband and I wanted to take a two night getaway within a few hours of our home. We decided on Cape May, NJ because of it’s beachy small town charm and Victorian architecture.

Since it was a special occasion we splurged on an ocean view room at Congress Hall – a landmark hotel packed with history, overlooking the beach in downtown Cape May. According to their website, the hotel was a, “summer retreat for the nation’s presidents. Ulysses S. Grant, Franklin Pierce, and James Buchanan all chose to vacation here. President Benjamin Harrison made Congress Hall his ‘summer White House’ and conducted the affairs of state from the hotel.” While there, we heard rumors that Tina Fey and Oprah stayed at Congress Hall this past summer. We liked that the hotel had a coffee shop, lounge, bar and spa all on the premises. (Historical tours are $5 on Fri., Sat., and Sun. at 12:30pm.) (For the full article click here.)
