BB Gun Causes Scare at Garden State Plaza

Clifton teen claimed he brought firearm to mall because he was afraid of other shoppers, according to report.

An 18-year-old Clifton man was arrested Friday night after carrying a BB gun to the Garden State Plaza, Paramus Police said.

Devin Rivera was charged with possession of an imitation firearm for an unlawful purpose. Rivera claimed he had the gun tucked into his waistband because he was afraid of others at the mall, according to NJ.com.

A Paramus police officer spotted Rivera with the gun on the mall's lower level near Macy's at about 8:30 p.m.

A 20-year-old Teaneck man opened fire in the mall in November with a modified rifle, injuring no one before committing suicide.

Throw the book at him, he could have started a panic, or was he just scouting security for when he brought back the big artillery. NJ and NY malls are prime targets for mass killings until right to carry legislation is passed.

Bruce, our representatives will never issue right to carry in NJ because 1. They do not use any form of logic in making decisions. 2. They pander not to what make sense but the masses that will vote for them. 3. They do not care about the general safety of people. It's amazing that in a year approximately 75,766 Americans die from alcohol related issues yet 31,076 die form gun related issues. It makes yo u wonder why politicians are not doing something about all the alcohol related deaths yet they love stripping everyone of their 2A rights.
