DEA Drug Take-Back in Mahwah This Weekend

Drop off unused prescriptions to the police station.

Residents can drop off unused prescription drugs this weekend as the Mahwah Police Department has announced it will take part in a national initiative to get unused drugs out of homes before they end up in the wrong hands.

The DEA National Take-Back Initiative is happening this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the police station. Residents will be able to drop off any unwanted, unused, or expired medications, no questions asked. According to a release from police, the meds will be safely and properly disposed of.

The program "aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing prescription drugs while also educating the public about the potential abuse of medications," police said in the release.
