The Mahwah Fire Department is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and it recently announced the first of what members say will be a string of events to commemorate the historic anniversary.
According to volunteer firefighter and event organizer Tim Tedesco, the first event will be a tricky tray happening at Company 1 firehouse on Miller Road on April 25.
The event, which will include free coffee and cake all night, door prizes, and music, will help pay for improvements to the Company 1 firehouse.
“This started because we had a bunch of projects [at the fire house] that we really needed to work on,” Tedesco said.
“We have a department-wide committee working on events for our 100th anniversary, so there will be a bunch of anniversary events this year. For this event, I combined the anniversary with the need to fundraiser for projects like redoing our kitchen.”
Tickets to the fundraiser will be $7 in advance and $10 at the door.
Tedesco said he’s already gotten a bunch of donations from locals and businesses to help run the event, but is still looking for prize donations to give away at the event.
