Mahwah FD Frees Woman Trapped in Embankment-Crashed Car

Crash in Upper Saddle River happened Tuesday morning.

Mahwah Fire Department Rescue Company 1 helped cut a woman out of a car that drove off an Upper Saddle River roadway into an embankment, the FD posted on its Facebook page Tuesday.

According to the post, the USR fire department requested assistance from Rescue 1 just after 8 a.m. Tuesday to a sedan that ran off of West Saddle River Road and down an embankment into a wooded area. She was trapped inside the car, the post said.

Responding firefighters cut off and removed the two front doors and roof of the car, and "removed the patient from the vehicle successfully," the post said.

According to the Upper Saddle River Fire Department Facebook page, the woman was transported via ambulance to a nearby landing zone set up at Presentation Church.

USR Police were not available to comment on the accident Tuesday afternoon. The woman's condition is unknown.

Saddle River Fire also responded to the accident.
