Mahwah Man Threatened Cops with Fake Gun after High-Speed Chase, Authorities Say

20-year-old was arrested after the 3 a.m. chase and standoff, report says.

A Mahwah man was arrested Monday after he allegedly led cops on a high speed chase on the Garden State Parkway and threatened to kill police officers with a gun he didn't actually have, nj.com reported.

According to the report, Ho-Ho-Kus police said Jabari Dickson, 20, was allegedly driving over 80 mph on Route 17 at about 3 a.m. Monday when cops attempted to pull him over for speeding. After a brief chase from 17 onto the Garden State Parkway, Dickson crashed his car into a guardrail near Exit 158, the report said.

Police said he then got out of the car and pointed his hands at officers as if he had a gun, told officers he was carrying a gun in his waistband, and threatened to kill them, the report said.

After a brief standoff, he was arrested on charges of eluding police, resisting arrest, terroristic threats, driving while under the influence and reckless driving, the report said.

He was taken to Bergen Regional Medical Center and the county jail on $30,000 bail, the report said.
