NY Man 'Thrashing' in Car Arrested on Heroin Charges in Mahwah, Report Says

Police say the man would likely have taken to township roads after snorting heroin, report says.

A NY man exhibiting some unusual behavior while sitting in his car in a Route 17 parking lot in Mahwah Tuesday was arrested on heroin possession charges, township Police told NorthJersey.com.

Cops said the man, Dave B. Nollido, 31, of Suffern, was “thrashing about” in his running car while it was parked at the International Motor Plaza on Route 17 South in Mahwah, the report said.

Initially, police responded to a call for someone possibly in need of medical assistance, but cops say the saw wax paper folds and other drug paraphernalia in plain view in the car, the report said.

After denying it, Nollido admitted to snorting and ingesting heroin, the report said. He was charged with possession of heroin, possession of a hypodermic needle, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, it said.

“The arrest of Nollido underscores the seriousness of the heroin problem throughout Bergen County and the State of New Jersey,” Mahwah Police Chief James Batelli said in the NorthJersey.com article.

“There is a high probability that this individual would have ingested heroin and then driven on the roadway endangering other motorists as well as himself.”
