Police: NY Men Carrying 40 Pounds of Pot, Liquid 'Dab' Arrested in Mahwah

Men had 39 vacuum-packed bags of marijuana in their minivan Monday, cops said.

Two New York men were arrested in Mahwah Monday after cops say they found over 40 pounds of marijuana and liquid hashish in their minivan, Mahwah Police Chief Jim Batelli announced in a release Tuesday.

According to Batelli, David Farone, 22, and William Mackey, 28, both of Rensselaer, N.Y., were driving a rented Town and Country on Route 17 North at about 9:30 a.m. when cops pulled them over for a moving violation.

Batelli said the two were nervous and gave police conflicting stories, prompting cops to get permission to search the vehicle.

Inside it, police found a suitcase with 39 large vacuum-sealed plastic bags of marijuana, Batelli said. Each bag weighed between a pound and a pound and a half, he said.

Police also found two "large pieces" of Dab, or a liquid, more potent form of THC concentrate, Batelli said. According to cnbc.com, the concentrated form of hash oil is gaining popularity

Farone and Mackey, who both have previous drug records, were arrested on various drug and possession charges, and remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $250,000, Batelli said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
