Police: Two Victims Stabbed, Assaulted at ‘Goat Farm’ Party in Mahwah

Cops say they are investigating an early morning party fight that landed at least two locals in the hospital.

Police are investigating a large fight at a party in the Stag Hill section of Mahwah early Sunday morning that they say sent two partygoers to the hospital with stab wounds and other injuries, Chief Jim Batelli announced in a release Sunday afternoon.

According to police, multiple fights broke out sometime between 2 and 3 a.m. Sunday at a party in the “Goat Farm” section of Stag Hill.

The farm, also known as the “German House” is what’s left of an old, abandoned stone house located far off the roadway that police say periodically plays host to large parties – this one had at least 40 to 50 attendees, Batelli said.

Though police are still piecing together what caused the fights to break out, Batelli said two victims so far have come forward with “moderate injuries” they sustained during it.

The first victim, a woman in her 20s from Harrington Park, was at the party when police said someone threw an object that hit her in the head. The woman was then, “punched, knocked to the ground, and kicked multiple times by an unknown person,” Batelli said.

The woman’s boyfriend brought her to Hackensack University Medical Center, where Batelli said she is being treated for “bruises and lacerations. Her hair was pulled out, and she may require some further evaluation on possible head injuries.”

A second victim, a man in his 20s from Maywood, told police he tried to intervene when a fight broke out, and was knocked to the ground, stabbed several times, and hit by a group of people, Batelli said.

The man did not notice the three stab wounds he sustained on his leg until after he ran from the fight and drove away from the party in his pick-up truck, Batelli said.

“The victim [drove to his house], but after he became aware of the severity of his injury he was taken to a local hospital,” Batelli said.

Police say they are continuing to investigate the party, and who was involved in the assaults. Detective Kevin Herbert, Sgt. Michael Blondin, and Officer Daniel Stewart are investigating the fights.
