A rash of similar burglaries that cops say take less than a minute to commit have hit health clubs in several northern Bergen County towns, NorthJersey.com reported.

According to the report, burglars are smashing in car windows of cars parked at health clubs and gyms to steal purses, wallets, cell phones, and other valuables left inside the cars while locals head inside to work out.

Mahwah has seen seven of these incidents at township health clubs over the past two weeks; Ramsey has had five such burglaries since November; and Wyckoff has had five break-ins reported since December, police told NorthJersey.com. All of the incidents are similar, the report said, likely using a spring-loaded punch tool to break a window without making much noise. And, most happen during the day, it said.

The New York Sports Clubs in Mahwah and Ramsey, Retro Fitness in Ramsey, and Wyckoff YMCA in Wyckoff have all be targeted, the report said.

Authorities from different agencies said they are working together and using surveillance video to investigate the similar incidents, the report said.

My sister had her stuff stolen from her locker at her health club TWICE. Cut the lock right off.

we need to increase the welfare and food entitlements so no one feels the need to steal. I am sure this young man has really tried to find a job and do the right thing.....but THE MAN has kept him down.

The thief is a: MALE driving a 2003 BLACK LEXUS RX300 (suv) and may be wearing a baseball cap. This article is misleading because he is breaking into cars everywhere, not just at health clubs. This person shattered my driver side window in front of my house, while I was inside. Two weeks later it happened at my job to a co-worker. The cops have video of it happening and still can’t manage to find this person?! Nobody should have to worry about having their car vandalized because some scumbag can’t figure out how to make an honest living.
