Burglars Hit Parked Cars at Area Health Clubs

Trend has seen at least 17 similar incidents over the past three months in Mahwah, Ramsey and Wyckoff, report says.

A rash of similar burglaries that cops say take less than a minute to commit have hit health clubs in several northern Bergen County towns, NorthJersey.com reported.

According to the report, burglars are smashing in car windows of cars parked at health clubs and gyms to steal purses, wallets, cell phones, and other valuables left inside the cars while locals head inside to work out.

Mahwah has seen seven of these incidents at township health clubs over the past two weeks; Ramsey has had five such burglaries since November; and Wyckoff has had five break-ins reported since December, police told NorthJersey.com. All of the incidents are similar, the report said, likely using a spring-loaded punch tool to break a window without making much noise. And, most happen during the day, it said.
