Unidentified Body Found in Hudson May Be 8th Suicide Jumper This Year

Body was found in the river near the George Washington Bridge Wednesday, report says.

Authorities recovered an unidentified body from the Hudson River near the George Washington Bridge, nj.com reported.

According to the report, a contractor working on the bridge saw the body and reported it to police at about 8:45 a.m. Wednesday. The body is described as a white man between his 40s and 50s, the report said.

Last Thursday, witnesses reportedly saw a man park his car and jump from the bridge. He jumped around the same time as a fatal tractor trailer accident on the bridge last week, the report said. His body has not yet been recovered, the report said.

Authorities are not yet sure if the body found is that man, the report said.

According to nj.com, Thursday's jumper marks at least eight people this year who have died after jumping off the bridge. At least 20 jumping suicides have been prevented by the Port Authority Police this year, the report said.
