Retired Firefighter Wins Season Tickets In Time For Giants-Jets Match-Up

Fire department handed over the raffle prize Giants season tickets Wednesday night

Retired FDNY firefighter John Spiech III was a “pretty happy guy” this Wednesday. The officially handed over sheets of crisp tickets to every game of the 2012-13 NY Giants season to the raffle winner at a presentation Wednesday night.

Spiech, an exempt member of the Mahwah FD, said he buys raffle tickets every year. His winning ticket was one of three that he purchased this year. “I think it’s really important to support all of our emergency services in town, especially the volunteers.”

The longtime Mahwah resident also said he was “shocked” to learn he actually won the drawing. “I never win anything!” he said. “These tickets will definitely be enjoyed.”

Co. 2 firefighter and raffle committee chair Ed Sinclair said all of the company’s members “went all out. They really put everything they had into selling tickets, and I want to thank all of them, and everyone who bought tickets.” He called the raffle “a big help,” to the department.

The FD is already getting ready for the fifth year of the raffle, which will give away tickets to the 2013-14 season.
