A solemn procession down Main Street in Ramsey is set to honor the arrival of Staff Sgt. Timothy McGill's body. McGill was a Ramsey firefighter and the son of a Mahwah Police Captain.

The body of a fallen soldier from Ramsey whose father is a retired Police Captain from the Mahwah Police Department will return home Monday afternoon.

McGill, who began serving shortly after his 2001 graduation from Ramsey High School, was a Ramsey volunteer firefighter, and had worked for the Ramsey Department of Public Works between deployments.

McGill’s father, Ray, is a retired captain from the Mahwah Police Department.

At a township council meeting last week, township officials expressed condolences for the McGill family on behalf of the Mahwah community, and asked that residents honor McGill’s passing and service.
