Two one-car accidents on Route 17 occurred within about 20 minutes of each other Tuesday night, Chief James Batelli said Wednesday. Neither resulted in serious injury, he said.
The first was a one-car rollover accident on Route 17 North around 11 p.m. Tuesday night that resulted in a minor injury, Assistant Chief Brad Stio said.
“It was a one car rollover, and the person walked away. He was very lucky,” Stio said. He did sustain a minor injury, Stio said.
Mahwah fire companies 1, 2 and 4 responded to the scene, as well as Mahwah Police and ambulance corps.
At about 11:20 p.m., a tractor trailer was involved in an accident at the intersection of Routes 17 and 287. According to Batelli, no serious injuries were reported as a result of that one-vehicle crash.
The New Jersey State Police responded to that accident. NJSP representatives said it was not of a serious nature, but that they could provide no additional information on that crash.
The causes of both accidents are unknown.
