Video: Brazen Thieves Ram Truck into Paramus Jewelry Center, Steal Safe

The heist, which made off with $250K in jewels, took about two minutes, and the whole thing was caught on surveillance video.

On Valentine’s Day, thieves rammed a stolen pick-up truck into The Jewelry Center in Paramus, and used a stolen backhoe to steal about $250,000 worth of precious gems – and according to a new report, the whole thing was caught on tape.

Surveillance video footage of the heist obtained by ABC-7 shows several thieves crashing into the western wall of the store with a stolen Ford truck, ABClocal.com reported.

The thieves then wrap cables around a safe filled with jewelry, pull it into the parking lot, and raise it into the truck with a stolen backhoe, the report said.

The heist, which took two minutes, also caused about $100,000 in damage to the building, the report said.

The owner of The Jewelry Center, Joseph Ayaz, told ABClocal.com that watching his hard work disappear in a few minutes was “heartbreaking.”

The Paramus Police Department is asking anyone with information to call 201-262-3400 extension 553.

What a bunch of morons. How could they ever expect to pull this off? And for $250K? Shows you how desperate people are getting. Next thing will be groceries at Whole Foods. After all, why should criminals have to rob at Shop-Rite when they can steal organic. After all. aren't we all entitled to equality; regardless of if we can afford it? LMAO!

Well as of right now, those morons appear to have succeeded. This type of drive-in robbery has been going on for some time in Europe. It's inexpensive to pull off, and the rewards can be worthwhile. I suspect an Eastern European gang.

@harlan. You are profiling and that's not acceptable in this day and age.

Sorry. You're right. I guess it could have been a gang of old white ladies, or some thrill-seeking retired dentists.

My gut instinct is that this was an inside job and an insurance scam with the mob. The NSA would come in handy here and check for cell phone activity in the area and time and get some names.
