Mahwah Environmentalist Featured at United Nations Panel Discussion

An environmentalist from Mahwah has been featured on an international stage.

Eric J. Fuchs-Stengel, the 22-year-old founder of MEVO (the Mahwah Environmental Volunteers Organization) was one of the featured speakers in a panel discussion held at the United Nations last week.

According to MEVO officials, Fuchs-Stengelwas part of the “MOM + SOCIAL GOOD” conference, an all-day event last Wednesday put on by the UN Foundation and Johnson and Johnson. The conference, which was live-streamed to over 140 countries around the world, was meant to discuss the next generation and what it is doing to change the world.

Fuchs-Stengel, who founded MEVO when he was in high school, was in good company. The moderator of the event was Caryl Stern, President & CEO, U.S. Fund for UNICEF, and fellow speakers included Trisha Guduru, of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, Florida Mwesiga, the Ambassador to the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and Mehar Gujral, the Teen Advisor for Girl Up.

"The United Nations Foundation panel discussion was outstanding! We totally rocked it! So awesome,” Fuchs-Stengel told Patch after the event.

“And, we got our MEVO message and values out to a lot of people. Fellow presenters at the event included Ambassador Samantha Power U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and actress Olivia Wilde."
