Pothole Problems: Where Are the Worst Road Craters in Mahwah?

Winter has done a number on the township's roads. As crews are working to repair potholes, Patch wants to know which you think are the worst.

It's been a rough winter, no one's questioning that.

From snow days at school to salt shortages throughout the state, towns have had to deal with the inclement weather on a daily basis, Mahwah included.

With the heavy snow and ice accumulations over the past couple of months, roads may have suffered the most, as small cracks in the pavement a few weeks ago have become tire-busting craters nearly impossible to avoid.

Each town has its share of notoriously bad potholes drivers try to avoid for fear of a blowout, or even worse.

Some township residents have been reporting potholes to the town via the Mahwah Delivers App, which has got us wondering: which roads have the worst potholes in town? Let us know in the comments, and if you've got a photo of a bad spot, be sure to send it over to jessica.mazzola@patch.com.

How about cleaning the snow better. Mac Arthur is down to a lane and at some areas snd the corners need to be pushed back. And also as above the corner of Darlington and rt 202 both the pothole snd the snow.

Last Friday night heading East on 87 towards NYC, around exits for Parkway and Palisades Parkway, I saw no less than 10 cars in a 1 mile stretch, all with flat tires from potholes on the NY Thruway. I slowed down, backed off, stayed in the lane with least number of potholes, and thanked God I have large tires and rims on my van.

See sometime after 10 AM, the worst spot on Island (south area heading north) got semi-fixed, tough most others that were avoidable, were not filled: ditto for Ramsey. Maybe like salt, there's a shortage of asphalt? Best to avoid any night driving if you can, for now. Amanda, know anybody working in Wyckoff?

Three weeks ago I had a flat that needed a new tire. Only 2500 miles on my new Elantra. I hate my Low profile tires-the worse any small pot hole will cut the tire and damage the rims. I now have 3k miles. I dread every pot hole I see and there's plenty. Start on N Ramapo avenue then right on to Route 202 South heading for Oakland. Pot holes start before Mahwah Business park then rte. 17 overpass then all the way on 202 until the Ramapo reservation. Pot holes ever 10-25 feet. Potholes stop all the way thru Oakland . None on 202 in Oakland so far. I try my best to zig zag trying to avoid the pot holes. Hit most and then hold my breath waiting for a blow out that will come soon. A blowout will cause a definite accident. Either that or get hit by another car trying to avoid the pot hole. Any solutions? I dread driving at night. Do not hear any solutions. Who is responsible for Rte 202. Island Road from Rte. 202 intersection all the way to Rte 17 overpass at Macarthur Blvd. massive pot holes.

I lost a tire AND a donut (the donut bent and split no less). Hilltop is a mess and needs a pave job too.
