Report: Mahwah’s Business Administrator Resigns

News of Brian Campion's resignation comes less than a week after Councilman John Spiech's announcement that he was also leaving his post.

After a dozen years in the position, Mahwah’s business administrator has announced he will step down from the position on September 30, NorthJersey.com reported Wednesday.

According to the report, Brian Campion, an attorney who previously worked in a private practice, submitted a letter of resignation to the township Monday morning.

“It’s a good time to move on,” Campion told NorthJersey.com of his decision to leave.

Mayor Bill Laforet will need to hire a replacement, who will be subject to approval by the township council, the report said.

The news of Campion’s resignation comes less than a week after longtime Councilman John Spiech’s surprise announcement that he was retiring from his position on the council about a year before the end of his term.

Laforet said he did not believe the two resignations were related, NorthJersey.com reported.

The township council could appoint an interim person to fill Spiech’s seat until November, at which point an election will determine who will finish out the rest of his term.
