A harsh thunderstorm that swept threw Mahwah Thursday afternoon cut power to about 866 residents, Orange & Rockland confirmed.
O&R officials estimated power would be back to all affected township residents by midnight. Outages were somewhat spread throughout the township, with much of the Cragmere section out, township officials said.
By 5 a.m., power was restored to all but 89 homes. O&R estimates power will be back on by 2 p.m. Friday.
Immediately after the storm, Mayor Bill Laforet sent out a Nixle alert warning residents of downed trees. Police confirmed that no roads in Mahwah were closed Thursday afternoon as a result.
