UPDATE: Council President Says Mayor Signed Crossroads Ordinances

Ordinances must now go before the Planning Board

The took one more step toward becoming a reality this week.

"I have been advised that Mayor DaPuzzo has signed all three Crossroads ordinances," Council President John Roth said Wednesday. These measures would allow for the vacant land surrounding the to be developed into a shopping complex including one or two box stores, a movie theater, and a "downtown, pedestrian friendly" design.

The ordinances now must go before the planning board.

The three controversial ordinances were approved , at a meeting where residents expressed extreme distaste for the proposed changes to the space, which is currently zoned for office space.

D: Noooo... My viewpoints on this have already been stated in the Ikea/GSP newspost. =.= I'm not going to repeat them here. "These measures would allow for the vacant land surrounding the Sheraton Mahwah Hotel to be developed into a shopping complex including one or two box stores, a movie theater, and a "downtown, pedestrian friendly" design." *sighs* One or two box stores... Better stay at that number.

Paramus-Paramus-Paramus-I grew up there. My Grandfather had a farm there-I have fond memories of that beautiful place to grow up. My fear is that Mahwah is traveling the same slippery slope I saw Paramus careen down in the last 30-40 years. You know what they say-once it's gone,it's gone! We have lived in Mahwah for 17 years and are very upset regarding the direction our new mayor wants to take us. Thanks, Fred Stedtler

With hundreds of Mahwah residents at the meeting apposing this measure, the council passed it anyway. DaPuzzo's mayorhood may be short lived. November is coming, and I will do my very best to enlighten residents to replace a few people on this council.

YOUR CANDIDATE IS NOT THE ANSWER EITHER
Mahwah Rules! April 08, 2011 at 03:39 PM
If Mahwah turns into Paramus, it'll be a very sad day for Bergen County. We love it here, and have no desire to see anything but office space in that area. Seems I'm going to have to start attending these council meetings... @robert - than what is the answer???
