Mahwah Named 'Booming Suburb'

The township ranked among the top booming suburbs in the state in a new survey, but it was outranked by several other Bergen county towns.

Mahwah has been named one of the top “booming suburbs” in the state by a new Coldwell Banker survey.

The real estate agency ranked towns and cities across the country based on several characteristics, including their number of amenities like grocery stores and banks, proximity to good schools, community safety, and year-over-year employment and unemployment rates.

Towns were given scores out of a possible 1,000 points. Mahwah scored a 762.31, making the township the 20th highest “booming suburb” in the state.

With 836.57 points, Bridgewater received the highest score in the state, and six Bergen County towns outranked Mahwah on the list – Ridgewood, Fair Lawn, Paramus, Teaneck, Bergenfield, and Fort Lee.

The rankings were part of Coldwell Banker’s annual ‘Best Places to Live’ series, which ranks towns nationally, and by state. No towns from New Jersey made the national Top Ten Booming Suburbs list, which was topped by Cottage Lake, Washington.

The survey also ranked top towns for suburbanites and social seekers, but Mahwah did not make either list.
