Class of '82 Readying For Mahwah High School Reunion

Members are working to locate all of their old classmates for a November gathering

The Mahwah High School Class of 1982 is planning its 30th reunion, and according to the reunion committee putting it together, the gathering is going to fill the class’s motto – “We like to party, this is true. We’re the Class of ’82.”

The reunion, which is looking to get together as many of the 168 graduates that year as possible, is happening at the Mahwah Bar and Grill on Nov. 23.

“We’ve been planning this for over a year,” Rob Tilton, a MHS ’82 grad who now lives in Tenafly and owns the Wireless World of Ramsey, said. “We are close to having 100 people confirmed that they’re attending.”

The reunion committee is now working to reach out to a handful of former classmates who they have not yet reached, and direct those who have responded to the reunion website to register for the event and pay to attend. The cost, of course, is $82 per person.

In addition to MB&G food and drink, the reunion will include a DJ, dance floor, open bar, shuttle service to area hotels and all-night hours – from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.

“There were a lot of differences,” in the school between then and now, Tilton said. “It was like a college campus, we walked between all of those buildings,” he said. “And, the size of it was a big difference. It was so much smaller then, there were a lot more students.”

Tilton said he’s looking forward to reminiscing about his high school years with old classmates coming from far and wide.

“We’ve got people who still live in town, or nearby, and people coming from all over the place – Virginia, California, Florida, all over the US, and even Australia.”
