MSF planning for fundraiser to benefit programs in Mahwah schools

Each year, the Mahwah Schools Foundation stages several large scale events to raise funds used for special grants and programs in . Next week, the MSF will throw its .

According to MSF publicity chair Juliann D’Elena, the event is not only an opportunity for Mahwah parents to support programs in their kids’ schools. It is also a fun way to network with one another. “In addition to good food, music and dancing, there's the fabulous raffle items, and the quality time with friends,” D’Elena said. “It's also a built-in opportunity to meet new people, including teachers and staff members from all six schools.”

All proceeds raised during the dinner dance provide funding for spring grants and programs in Mahwah schools. In the past, funds raised during this event have contributed to “Musical Notation Software, which teaches children in our elementary schools how to read music, [a] pilot program of TI-N Wireless Navigation Systems in Math Classrooms in the , [which] allow for instant assessment and instruction and are shown by research to increase student understanding, engagement and class participation, [additional] Promenthean Boards at and , as well as helping out with interactive items in the play area in the Extended Early Childhood Outdoor Education Center,” D’Elena said.

The event, happening next Tuesday, March 13, from 6-11 p.m. at Seasons in Washington Twp., will include cocktails, hor d'oeurves, a dinner buffet, and dancing.

Tickets are $135 per person, or $1,250 for a table of 10.  Raffle tickets can also be purchased in advance – three tickets cost $20, or you can pick up 8 for $50 or 20 for $100.
