First Issue of 'T-Bird Talk' Meant to Increase Communication, Schools Say

Check out the first in what the Board of Education says will become a more regular publication with updates on the school community.

This month, the Mahwah Board of Education emailed to parents and posted on the district website the first edition of ‘T-Bird Talks,’ a newsletter that school officials said would be released more frequently than its printed counterpart, Thunderbird Pride and Spirit.

The newsletter is meant, officials said at a recent Board of Education meeting, to help fulfill one of the Board’s goals this year, to increase communication with parents and the community.

The first issue of T-Bird Talk contains updates from the Board on several hot-button topics, including the construction of a multi-purpose athletic practice facility at the high school, the implementation of the Common Core standards at Mahwah schools, and the possible addition of full-day Kindergarten to the district next year.

The newsletter also includes an update from each of the district’s six schools. Topics discussed in the newsletter include Joyce Kilmer’s Team Building Day, the Ridge’s Positive School Climate Day, and an update on Mahwah High School being named to the Advanced Placement Honor Roll.

You can download the newsletter above, or read it at the district’s website.
