Mahwah Named One Of Top 1,000 High Schools In The Nation

Newsweek ranks MHS in the second half of the list

The always talked about Newsweek best public high schools in the country list is out, and ranked No. 632. Last year, the township high school was not ranked on Newsweek's list.

Earlier this year, Mahwah High School . 

The highest-ranking Bergen County school on the list this year is Bergen County Academies in Hackensack, which ranked No. 21. Other county schools that made the list include Cresskill at No. 166, Ridgewood at 273, Northern Highlands in Allendale at 281, Glen Rock at 287, Fair Lawn at 649, RiverDell at 710 and Paramus at 742.

According to the magazine,this year’s ranking highlights the best 1,000 public high schools in the nation—the ones that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads. The list is based on six components provided by school administrators: graduation rate (25 percent), college matriculation rate (25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and AP courses offered per student (5 percent).
