On the eve of Governor Chris Christie’s State of the State address commenting on the ongoing impact of Hurricane Sandy on the Garden State, a group of Mahwah students has worked to help keep the state “Jersey Srong.”
Mahwah High School Student Council Advisor, and MHS History teacher, Barbara Fernicola submitted a photo of her council students with a $1300 check they collected and donated to New Jersey Sandy victims.
Fernicola explained what her students did:
“The Mahwah High School Student Council raised $1300 dollars since Hurricane Sandy, which we sent to Governor Christie to help the victims down at the shore. As a school, we conducted bake sales, T-Shirt Sales, and even had our student council members sing during lunch for donations. We hope this money will help whomever it can and that this donation really makes a difference in the lives of New Jersey residents. We are Jersey Strong!”
